2011

  • November-December 2011 – Rehearsals get underway for the new album.
  • November 19, 2011 Saturday 3-6pm – Julee’s Restaurant in Jasper, GA
Thank you Julee for including us in the grand opening of your second restaurant. We are looking forward to playing the outside deck come the spring and summer of 2012.
  • November 5, 2011 Saturday 6:45pm – HemlockFest with Caroline Aiken and Colonel Bruce Hampton in Dahlonega, GA
This was “da bomb” and one of the most energized and engaging crowds we’ve played to all year. Wow is an understatement. We have been booked for a return appearance in 2012.  If you have never been to this festival, please make it there in 2012. It is so well done and the food and folks are not to be believed.
  • October 29, 2011 Saturday Evening – Julee’s Restaurant in Ellijay, GA
Great place for food and live music. Nice that we could be her music choice for the grand opening.
  • October 29, 2011 Saturday 1pm – Benton Heritage Festival in Benton, Tennessee
We love little Benton, Tennessee and will play there anytime we are asked. The town folks are warm and welcoming and the promoter is first class. We couldn’t have had a more beautiful day for an outdoor stage show.
  • October 22, 2011 Saturday – The Liberty Tree BBQ & Music Festival in Dalton, GA
Another great event from promoter Paul Byrum in Dalton, GA  Top drawer acts and top drawer treatment all the way. Thank you for including us in this exclusive day long event.
  • October 8, 2011 Saturday- PRIVATE Wedding & Reception in Hiawassee, GA
Craig and his bride were fantastic. Craig handled the entire affair with grace and excellence — and your guests had a great time in the pumpkin carving contest. The Hiawassee River Trout Lodge venue is stunning and a super place for parties and events.  We loved being able to change from plugged-in stage to acoustic campfire sing along. Good work Craig.  Great food from Tim at Rib Country BBQ.
  • October 7, 2011 Friday – PRIVATE Wedding & Reception in Blairsville, GA
Jamie and John had a splendid wedding overlooking the Lake at Vogel State park. Thank you for including us in your day. We enjoyed the special music you chose for your ceremony and the reception was a blast. It’s the first time we’ve seen a bride and groom leave for their honeymoon running with backpacks and hiking sticks. Nice.
  • October 1, 2011 Saturday 8pm - Nantahala Outdoor Center – NOC Pourover Pub in Wesser, NC
For those of you who have not been to this restaurant/pub on the banks of the Nantahala River, you really must check it out. As we played music, people danced like crazy and there was a night-time whitewater kayak race happening just to the side of us. Yes, it was cold, but spirits were hot.
  • October 1, 2011 Saturday 1pm – John C. Campbell Folk School Fall Festival in Brasstown, NC
We pulled a standing room only at this huge festival stage and made many new friends and fans. We are re-booked to be next year’s headliner. Thank you to the Buzzard Mountain Boys who did the banner dance behind us on stage. Strange but somehow funny.
  • September 30, 2011 Friday 7pm Doyles Cedar Hill Restaurant in Murphy, NC
Great way to wrap up the summer at this outdoor patio scene. Everyone is in the mood for Fall in the Mountains.
  • September 24, 2011 Saturday 8pm  - Vogel State Park Evening Music Series near Blairsville, GA
We were honored to be the band for the 2012 Season Finale of this beautiful concert series. If you were there, you know the lakeside pavilion was overflowing with audience members. Thank you for the dancing and for the listening and for all the music album sales. It’s cool for a band to know that new listeners want to take our music into their homes and life. We forgot to bring our email newsletter sign up sheet, so if you were there and are not yet subscribed to our somewhat-every-so-often newsletter and would like to, it’s just over to the right ►
  • September 10, 2011 Saturday 12noon  - Vogel State Park Mountain Music Festival in Blairsville, GA
We are so used to performing at Vogel State Park at nighttime, what a treat to be alongside the sparkling lake in the middle of the day and tucked in with so many fabulous and varied bands. We certainly enjoyed listening to Cornbread Ted & The Butter Beans. That band has it going on! And now, we are all good friends.  That’s what cosmic energy is all about!
  • September 9, 2011 Friday 7pm – The Dam Opry in Hiwassee Dam, NC
An interesting evening at the Dam Opry. For all of our fans who were there, yes, the little local gospel band who showed up uninvited hours before the show and set up their sound to the embarrassment (not necessary) of the promoter – they did indeed hijack the evening. We thought it was quite curious being that they put on a gospel show and we felt bad for our friends, fans and the promoter who had set aside the evening to hear a full show from us.  But you know, it’s all about good energy and allowing new musicians to learn by experience. We know they will look back and realize what they did was not necessary because we love sharing stages.  We can only smile and chalk this one up and give it another go in the future…
  • September 3, 2011 Saturday L&N Depot Stage 1pm & 2pm  - 11th Annual Murphy Heritage Walk Festival in Murphy, NC
Thank you to all the volunteers and staff at this beautiful and spirited mountain festival. There’s nothing quite like flatbed truck stages, the aroma of boiled peanuts mixed with a Carolina blue sky. We were certainly impressed by the huge crowds that you are able to fit into your festival grounds and loved all the love that was showered upon us. This was the first of what we hope will be many appearances at your festival.
  • August 27, 2011 Saturday 7pm - Wildwater Willie’s Mineshaft Pub Raft for the Cure event on Hwy 64 in Ducktown, TN
  • August 20, 2011 Saturday 7pm – Riverfront Nights in Chattanooga, TN. Opening for YARN
Fantastic night along the banks of the Tennessee River. Huge crowds, including a flotilla of boats and yachts docked along the side of the venue. So much dancing and even hula hooping. Darn good show with great audience energy. We liked the floating green room on the 3rd deck of the Southern Belle paddle wheel boat. Thank you Jeff Styles and Dixie Fuller for taking such good care of us.
  • August 19, 2011 Friday 12:30pm ET - Live TV Appearance on Chattanooga’s News Channel 9
Don Welch welcomed us to the Channel 9 studios where we knocked out several dynamic songs then wrapped it up with an interview. He asked us our favorite 3 words to describe our music, we still are arguing among ourselves as to what those should be. Can we do a do-over?
  • August 19, 2011 Friday 11:30am ET – Live interview and music with host Jeff Styles on Chattanooga WGOW-AM 102.3AM
Jeff is one of the best radio hosts going. Thanks for having us in the studio and then coming out the next evening for our show at Riverfront Nights. A lot of you in radio-land heard our interview and live performance…
  • August 13, 2011 Saturday 7pm - Coosawattee Resort Summer Concert Series in Ellijay, GA
  • August 6, 2011 Saturday 6pm-8pm – Concerts on the Square in Hiawassee, GA
Thank you to all the fans who came out and filled up the downtown park for our show.  We really enjoyed spending the evening with you and it was great seeing so many of you from concerts years past.
  • August 5, 2011 Friday 8:30pm – The Crimson Moon Cafe in Dahlonega, GA
There is no question that Mercury is in Retrograde. The show was fantastic, but it was nip and tuck just before first note with a sound board that didn’t want to cooperate. But the stars and planets aligned and our sound-man Jason with our John at his side got it all going. The crowd tonight was beautiful and energized. Great to have new fans from Cumming, long-time fans from Buford and some of the group in town for the Sprint Canoe Kayak National Championships in Gainesville, GA.  Oh, and the sound was fantastic.
  • July 30, 2011 Saturday 8:30pm-11:30pm – Chevelles 66 Restaurant & Bar in Murphy, NC
Interesting night at Chevelles. There was a high school 10 year reunion at the front tables. Go Hayesville High Yellow Jackets. They kept saying something about how they beat Murphy HS. We left that alone thinking it would be somewhat bad form being that we were in downtown Murphy. Great to see our friends Lynn, Beth, Brett, Randy and Charisse in the crowd. Also, the mannequin standing in the corner of the stage was a bit freaky, we needed to put an instrument in her hand (she only had one hand.)
  • July 24, 2011 Sunday 8am-11am – Escape to Blue Ridge Tri the Mountains Triathlon in downtown Blue Ridge, GA
Really early in the morning to be setting up sound and playing live music. Especially after a late night before. But it was a rockin’ scene. The race organizers were top drawer, the volunteers and athletes outstanding. We came away with a bunch of new friends who had not heard our music before.  Awesome food catered by Harvest on Main of Blue Ridge, GA
  • July 11, 2011 Monday 8pm – Budweiser Blow Out at Wildwater Willie’s Mineshaft Pub on Hwy 64 in Ducktown, TN
Everyone had their groove on. This 3-season watering spot has Euro Beer Garten sensibilities. A hip outdoor-sports crowd was on hand and ready to dance the night away. Good cold Budweiser and excellent food. The muggy Ocoee River night didn’t put a damper on anyone and we pulled out all our blues-stops.
  • July 9, 2011 Saturday 7pm – Brasstown Community Music Opry in Brasstown, NC
Standing room only & enthusiastic crowd. The organizers said it was an “epic” attendance night in their long history of putting on shows. The staff had homemade peach cobbler with ice cream waiting for us. Hot July day outside, but cool air conditioning in the hall for an over-the-top energetic scene.
  • June 28, 2011 Tuesday 5:30pm – Fannin County Chamber of Commerce Annual Picnic in McCaysville, GA
Rainy weather moved all of us indoors to a the nearby Cider House Restaurant.  Overflowing with folks, we threw in an extra set of music because the evening was such a good time.
  • June 26, 2011 Sunday 3:30pm – Be-Fourth Festival at the North Georgia Boogie
We were able to squeeze our set into the dry and sunny point in between rain showers. so many folks were swimming and floating on rafts on the lake just behind our stage listening the our show. Lots of dancing and hula-hooping happening just out front. Fantastic scene.
  • June 18, 2011  Saturday8pm – Aska Adventure Area near Blue Ridge, GA
We’ve never received as much feedback as we did following our show in the Aska Adventure Area. It was a double sell-out and a wicked storm moved through the area blocking some of the roads. The next day, we heard from so many fans asking us to make sure that the spirit and positive energy that we put into our musical mission aligns with that of the venues where we play. We love that our fans feel comfortable in being able to share the ups and the downs of our shared cosmic musical journey.
  • June 10, 2011 Friday – Private Event Maloney Wedding Rehearsal Dinner at Brasstown Valley Resort in Young Harris, GA
Sweetest parents of the bride and the groom —  an adorable couple!
  • June 2, 2011 Thursday 8pm – Twain’s Billiards & Tap in Decatur, GA
Good house tonight in Decatur, GA. quite a crowd and some avid and interesting dancing for sure.
  • May 28, 2011 Saturday – Tala’s Wedding Ceremony & Reception in Young Harris, GA
Loved playing Pachabel’s Canon in D for the bride’s entrance. The bride and father dance to Ashokan’s Farewell brought tears to everyone’s eyes.
  • May 27, 2011 Friday 7pm – The Dam Opry in Hiwassee Dam, NC
Standing room only. Best dam opry anywhere.
  • May 21, 2011 Friday 7pm-10pm Doyles Cedar Hill Restaurant in Murphy, NC
Finally, a night where rain is not pounding on the metal roof of this amazing outdoor Tiki bar. We were beginning to think we should become a jamaican steel drum band! super night, yet again, at Doyles.
  • May 14, 2011 Saturday 12noon – Grand Opening Celebration of Sisters Restaurant in Blue Ridge, GA
It was hot to say the least. playing in a parking lot under a tent. Kind of felt like an old-timey drive in theater with all the folks who had backed their cars and trucks into the lot to sit there and listen. Nice little restaurant with outstanding food.
  • May 12, 2011 Thursday – German Travel Writers Tour at the Arts Center in Blue Ridge, GA
This is what we call high-cotton. A very upscale wine and cheese event at the Arts Center to host a group of travel journalists from Germany who were touring the Blue Ridge Mountains. We pulled out all the classical material we knew along with splashes of Rock-a-Billy and Monroe-grass.
  • May 7, 2011 Saturday Day – Nashville to Japan Relief Concert at Union County Arena in Blairsville, GA
Entertainer Moses Cotton did such a fantastic job with this big-show Fundraising Concert. So many Nashville stars were on hand. The scene backstage was class-act and quite a bit of fun as the relaxed atmosphere and good intent of the event forged new professional relationships and friendships.
  • May 7, 2011 Saturday – Greasy Creek Ramp Tramp Festival near Ocoee River in southeast TN
Our favorite spring rite of each and every year. The hula-hooping that happened during our show was a first for the ramp-tramp regulars. We suspect they’ve never seen that happen before!
  • April 29-30, 2011 Friday & Saturday – Annual Georgia BMW Motorcycle Rally in Hiawassee, GA
It’s always risky playing music at a loud motorcycle event. But there was not an engine noise in earshot. Packed 2-day event. Great scene.
  • April 15, 2011 Friday 7pm-10pm Doyles Cedar Hill Restaurant in Murphy, NC
Huge lightning storms and heavy rains put a damper on what would have been a packed fundraising rock-and-roll music night. But all the bands made the best of it, drank some fine beer, enjoyed the beautiful staff at Doyles and then drove back to the safety of our homes through flooded streets and downed trees.
  • April 2, 2011 Saturday 6:30pm – 35th Annual WRFG Radio Peach Blossom Festival in Atlanta, GA
Huge crowds for our portion of the show. Out the door. Plenty of great dancing. We play at this fantastic event each year and it is beautiful to go from early in the day opener status in year one, to headlining now. Thank you to organizer Sharon Wiggins for being on our music journey from day one.
  • March 26, 2011 Saturday 8pm – Doyles Cedar Hill Restaurant in Murphy, NC
Great crowd, but lots and lots of rain outside. Made for an interesting sound all night long trying to play above the thunderstorm. Doyle’s is such a fantastic place.
  • March 25, 2011 Friday 7:30pm – John C. Campbell Folk School Concert Series in Brasstown, NC
They told us it was the largest crowd they’ve had for a show in recent memory. Everyone in the audience was so enthusiastic and engaged. Loved it!
  • February 19, 2011 Saturday 2pm – Fire & Ice Festival in downtown Blue Ridge, GA
Lisa was sick with the flue but still showed up to try and play. We finally sat her down before she passed out. All in all, the boys pulled off a great set of music.
  • February 18, 2011 Friday 7pm – Birchwood Family Opry in Birchwood, TN
Fantastic scene at the Birchwood Opry. The boys pulled it off without Lisa who was sick with the flu. The band came away with dozens of new fans.
  • February 18, 2011 Friday 12noon – WDVX Radio Blue Plate Special in Knoxville, TN  - Streaming on the web – Live Performance
The best live radio show going. Lisa, who was sick with the flu, listened to the live stream from her sick bed back in Ducktown, TN. The guys put on a great show. Radio host, Red Hickey, is a doll!
  • January 29, 2011 Saturday 4pm – L.L. Beanery in Blue Ridge, GA
A nice evening of easy music to kick off the new year.
